The Assam Road Research & Training Institute (ARR&TI) since its establishment has been engaged in the relentless service of providing Training to the in-service Engineers of Public Works Roads Department, Contractors’ personnel and also imparting training to the Technical Students of the Engineering Colleges during summer and winter vacation at the request of the Head of the Institutions.
The Assam Road Research & Training Institute’s laboratories are specially designed and equipped with Laboratory Equipments to carry out all necessary quality control tests of the materials used in road/ bridge construction works undergoing in the State, at a very affordable price. Following five Laboratories of ARR&TI are conducting routine testing of samples/materials /mixes/ surface evenness:
Soil Section: The Soil Section deals with testing of properties of soil such as Liquid Limit, Plastic Limit, Gradation of soil, Proctor value, CBR value etc. Following is the list of test with their rate of testing and equipments/ apparatus used:

Cement Section: This Laboratory facilitates testing of properties of cement, bricks, Steel and Cement Concrete. Properties of cement such as Fineness Modulas, Flexural Strength, Setting Time, Soundness, and Compressive Strength etc. are tested here. Moreover, concrete mix design, compressive strength of bricks and also tests related to properties of Steel are also conducted in this Section.
